MachinistEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Applies the principles of metal cutting to work pieces and cutting tools.Calculates geometrical and operation-related values necessary to the trade.Reads and uses mechanical component and assembly drawings.Interprets and uses trade related reference charts and tables.Accurately uses and records measurements with precision measuring devices.Adjusts feeds and speeds to improve quality and achieve maximum efficiency with minimal tool wear.Uses knowledge of G and M codes to write CNC programs.Practices general shop safety and 5S practices.Confers with engineers to resolve machining or assembly problems.Develops fixtures and tooling without assistance.Supervisory responsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Mathematical skillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning abilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
